About the Role

Responsibilities include:


  • Setting up projects on systems, ensuring the business unit legal requirements of the Building Regulations. Coordinating projects from the creation of opportunities, administering initial appointment, through to the issuing formal certification.
  • Liaising with all members of the business unit and wider BV company, irrespective of location, including both technical and support staff, regarding projects and general issues, as and when required
  • Updating the business support ICT systems, database, document management systems etc.
  • Supporting the surveying team by updating project records, recording tasks and logging site inspections on projects.
  • Assisting the business unit in recovery of outstanding debt as directed by the Business Support Manager
  • Taking telephone calls, enquires, and requests, and handling them when appropriate, within the roles scope.
  • Assisting with arranging travel and accommodation in line with appropriate company policy (for example company travel policy)
  • Assist the Business Support manager in dealing with complaints to ensure responses are provided in accordance with company policy.
  • In conjunction with the Business Support Manager assisting with the organisation of internal training events / team briefings for the Office, as and when required.
  • Production of fee proposals and tender documentation for Building Control
  • Reporting as directed to provide management information and work reminders to technical and management teams.
  • Liaison with other areas of the company, assisting in cross fertilisation and growth.
  • Contribute to the centralised Business Support function on daytoday workflow, process and systems.
  • Undertake followup communications with clients after the provision of fee proposals and final certificates and reports to secure projects.
  • Liaise with and support commercial team to ensure accurate invoice information, contracts signed, recognise additional work and debt under control.
  • Work within and support staff to meet the Building Control Business Unit and Bureau Veritas quality system requirements.
  • Assist in providing training and support to new staff on administrative procedures and functions.
  • Proven administration experience
  • Ability to confidently work with colleagues to deliver efficient support services.
  • Capable of handling confidential information securely
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good customer service skills
  • Highly proficient with MS Office suite of products
  • Ability to prioritise own work and manage workload.
  • Effective resource management skills
  • Knowledge and ability to use computer management systems including Deltek ideally but
- not essential

  • Minimum GCSE Mathematics and English or equivalent
  • Demonstratable experience in a similar role
  • Experience of the construction sector desirable but not essential
