    Description

    We are looking for an experienced Biomedical Scientist to work as part of the friendly and welcoming team in the Haematology and Blood Transfusion laboratory at this busy hospital.

    We have XN9000's and Werfen ACLTOP analysers in Haematology and Biorad IH1000's in Blood transfusion.


    As a Biomedical Scientist to undertake to a high standard specialist analyses and to undertake the routine work of the Blood Sciences department in both Haematology and BT.

    Once fully trained you will work on the shift system working across the two disciplines. Training and support will be given to the successful candidate.
    To provide a diagnostic, consultative and interpretative Haematology service across all sites, clinics and primary care. The speciality of Haematology includes Haematology, Coagulation and Blood Transfusion sections.
    To advise on, and maintain near patient testing facilities.
    Provides a Pathology Reception service for the receipt and handling of samples, including samples referred to other laboratories.
    The department provides safe and compatible blood products for transfusion to patients and advises about their optimum usage.

    Relevant theoretical / practical / scientific knowledge to underpin the technical aspect of a laboratory service

    Heath Professions Council (HPC) registered as a Biomedical Scientist
    Biomedical Science Degree (BSc) or equivalent acceptable by Health Professions Council
    European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL)

    Further Training
    Professional Development (CPD)

    Significant period of specialist training in a clinical laboratory during which time sufficient knowledge has been acquired to demonstrate competence in the portfolio of specialist training

    5 hrs per week, working on any shift within the full shift system as rostered
    ~ Annual attendance at Trust mandatory training
