Building a sustainable tomorrow


BAM FM are recruiting a Handyperson to work alongside a team of specialised technicians providing a fully encompassing service delivery plan for our client.


The role requires the successful applicant to carry out various roles within the buildings including carrying out planned maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance tasks as they occur across the sites.

There are two sites one in Middleton and the other Rochdale.


Your mission

  • Carry out Emergency Light Testing
  • Carry out replacement of light fittings including tubes and bulbs
  • Carry out ceiling tile replacements and or redecoration.
  • Carry out Tap Temperature Tests and keep accurate records
  • To clear blockages, remove foreign matter from sinks, toilets drains etc and clear up spillages where required. Replacing of toilet syphons etc.
  • First line maintenance of fixtures and fixings, examples: tightening screws, minor repairs and temporary measures after damage etc.
  • Maintain appropriate records where required.
  • Update and maintain CAFM system.
  • Carry out escorting duties of Sub Contractors
  • Identify spare parts to carry out repairs and order through appropriate channels.
  • Assist the mobile engineering team
  • Liaise with the client
  • Inspection and fault finding
  • Provide general support duties.
  • Ensure the operation of heating plant, fire alarm systems and lighting systems.
  • Other reasonable requests when required.

Who are we looking for?

  • Experience as a Handyperson in a busy service environment,
  • Recognised trade qualification would be desirable
  • Knowledge of General H&S Regulations, to be able to understand and carry out the preparation of Risk Assessments and producing Method Statements for works within the site.
  • Must be experienced and selfmotivated and able to identify concerns / defects without direction.
  • Reliable. (Through regular reviews of works attendance, attitude and competence).
  • Whilst the role is initially based on site there may be future requirements to cover more than one site.
  • Basic plumbing/mechanical and electrical experience would be advantageous but not essential
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Must be physically fit as the job involves a lot of walking.
  • Ability to use initiative in day to day duties.
  • Full Driving licence
