Pure are pleased to have been retained to recruit the newly created position of a Head of Finance for our client based in Chelmsford, Essex.

The role has been created to support the senior leadership team where you will play a key part in driving the business forward, providing sound financial advice, reporting, analysis and risk management.

This will be a broad role that requires someone to betechnically strong as well as commercially aware, enabling them to be more than just an "accountant".

Our client has continued to grow over recent years and operate in a dynamic industry where reputation is key and we are looking for a Head of Finance to take full ownership of the finance function, supporting the business as it grows and adding significantvalue to the wider business.


Key responsibilities:

  • Collaboratively identify required departmental reporting, including Monthly management accounts pack and other reports as initiated/requested.
  • Set, agree, monitor, control and report on the budgeted P&L, whilst communicating with other areas of the business to ensure that budgets & expectations are clear and understood.
  • Systems & Process ownership and development, requiring a confident approach to challenging, developing and implementing system requirements from first principles.
  • Full debtor and creditor management.
  • Cashflow management and forecasting.
  • Liaise with Operations department for projected cost and income on each project, working closely with the Commercial Director.
  • Ensure all statutory returns are completed including VAT, P11D's, etc.
  • Oversee Business Support/Admin/Compliance function.
  • Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or Qualified by Experience.
  • Held a similar level senior finance role within an SME with turnover in excess of £10m.
  • Direct people line management, mentorship and development, being able to deliver results through others.
  • Be a leader of change and improvement.
  • Demonstrable experience of dealing at board level in a fast paced and commercial environment.
  • Personal values that reflect openness and transparency, taking true ownership, inspiring leadership and customer centric focus.
