Main Purpose of the Job/Key Objectives:

Job Context:

  • The postholder reports to the Strategic Applications Team Leader.
  • The postholder assists with responsibility for staff in the Strategic Applications team.
  • The postholder will occasionally be required to work outside standard office hours.

Qualifications:

Skills and Abilities:

Planning and urban design skills:
high level of proficiency.


  • Customer care champion.
  • Good understanding of the dynamics of team working.

Developing individual management skills:
disciplinary and counselling.


  • Good appreciation of employment legislation.

Competent team management skills:
organisation, crisis management and change management.


  • Proficient level of general and competent level of specialist IT skills.

Time/priority management:
effective understanding of Project Management techniques.


  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and handle stress.

Experience:


  • Effective supervisory experience and developing management experience at team level within development management or urban design.

Appeal experience:

public inquiries and developing experience of public meetings, member level meetings or committees, plus working to complex constitutional procedures, including public hearings and legal challenges.


Qualifications:

  • RTPI accredited postgraduate degree.
  • Eligible for Membership of RTPI or RICS (Planning and Development).
  • Evidence of relevant Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • Management training (desirable).
