The Role


This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced recruitment leader to join the FT on a 12 month fixed term contract.

A member of the Financial Times' Global Human Resources team, the Head of Talent Acquisition will be responsible for managing all aspects of our Talent Acquisition agenda as well as the global team (14 people currently).

We are looking for someone who will help steward our Talent Acquisition offering by working with our HR Business Partners and business leaders to define and implement their talent acquisition strategies and someone who will provide a first class recruitment service.

The position will be a mix of senior recruitment (mainly corporate functions, sales, marketing etc), team management and strategic development, so would suit someone who is used to being very hands on as part of their current role.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Manage, resource and lead the FT's Talent Acquisition team.
  • Deliver on the FT's Talent Acquisition strategy, and work with other key teams such as Diversity and Inclusion & Talent Development to make sure there is alignment.
  • Play an active role in providing an inhouse, end to end recruitment service to the business for senior permanent & FTC hires.
  • Work with the HR Business Partners and business leaders to build out their individual strategies using data to help inform this strategy (this includes mínimal use of third party agencies).
  • Work in partnership with the FTs talent and performance partner to build an internal and external pipeline of talent to ensure the business gets the right person at the right time for optimal performance.
  • Design and implement creative solutions for filling vacancies.
  • Coach and guide managers on hiring best practices.
  • Continue to refine key success measures for the Talent Acquisition function.
  • Make recommendations about new hiring opportunities, operational efficiencies and industry advancements.
  • Own the social media presence for recruiting.
  • Own third party relationships eg Linkedin.
  • Lead and establish recruitment events that build on our strong employer brand.

Required Experience:


  • Experience in Talent Acquisition strategies and techniques with significant 'hands on' recruitment experience in many sectors including media and technology.
  • Strong management skills, ideally with experience leading geographically dispersed teams.
  • A strong track record of creating diversity and inclusion strategies and deliverables
  • Ability to lead on the design and execution of direct hire activity
  • Experience of internal talent mobility strategies
  • Deep knowledge of 'go to market' approaches
  • Ability to think and act strategically as well as tactically, anticipating future consequences and trends accurately
  • Desire and ability to challenge conventional thinking, managing risk and influencing a broad crosssection of stakeholders
  • Results driven selfstarter: takes initiative and consistently delivers results of the highest quality, has a sense of urgency, overcomes hurdles and ensures that results are delivered
  • Demonstrated history of building rapport and robust relationships as well as influencing at all levels including leadership, external customers, suppliers and stakeholders
  • Strong stakeholder management experience
  • Commercial awareness
  • Clear and engaging communication style with the ability to adapt to others'
  • External networking to bring fresh insights into the FT
