Cloud Engineer

£40,000 - £50,000

Our established client specialise in developing efficient data centres, providing digital consultancy, managed services, and technology, for market leading customers.

They are looking for a Cloud Engineer to join their dedicated team.

The Cloud Engineer will work a dual role of deploying, configuring, and upgrading platforms to design requirements. And working as part of the managed services team as a 3rd line support lead.


Responsibilities:


  • Set up, test, monitor, and alert platforms, and service elements
  • Deploy existing designs of Nutanix platforms to required standards
  • Deploy other virtualisation platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, underlying servers and vSAN
  • Deploy Windows servers to meet design requirements, to best practises
  • Deploy management servers, both physical and virtual, including management tools, and configuring management protocols on newly deployed devices
  • Maintain Cloud systems to latest patches, firmware, and security standards as agreed
  • Perform updates to all Cloud components as needed, including both software and hardware
  • Technical (Support) onboarding/transition of new customers
  • Assist customers with queries in relation to activities with Cloud systems, and work with Nutanix support
  • Maintain operational and platform documentation

Skills/ Experience:


  • Good virtualisation skills, primarily either in VMware or KVM variants, although Hyper-V experience is also considered
  • Server Hardware knowledge, ideally with some degree of support, including configuration, firmware management, out of band management, HPE, Dell product portfolio
  • Networking skills, understanding of L2, L3, routing, firewalls and switching, (technologies include Mellanox, Cisco and Fortinet
  • Good working knowledge of some of the key datacentre enterprise systems, from servers, networking, firewalls, switching, storage, backup, DR technologies, either management or support roles
  • Windows operating environment design, implementation and support
  • Customer focussed, ability to communicate with the customer at a technical and (high and low) design level
