£11.50 per hour
(depending on experience)

Tezlom are looking for passionate and experienced support worker for a Residential Home in Wakefield.

You will work as part of a team to provide high-quality care and support for adults living in a Residential Home.


You will be supporting adults aged years that suffer from Learning disabilities, personality disorder and autism in an 8-bed home.

You will be responsible for supporting adults to develop their independence, life skills, and social and emotional wellbeing. You will also ensure that the home provides a safe and nurturing environment for adults to live.


Roles and Responsibilities:


  • Work closely with the Service Manager to ensure that the residential home provides highquality care and support that meets the needs of the adults.
  • Participate in the care and support planning for the service users living in the home, ensuring that their individual needs are identified and appropriately addressed.
  • Provide basic care and support for adults, including personal care, meal preparation, and support with household tasks.
  • Support the service users to develop their social and emotional wellbeing, and to develop independent living skills.
  • Engage in creative activities and play with the service users to promote their physical, social, and intellectual development.
  • Implement routines, boundaries, and consequences appropriately and consistently, in line with the home's policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and evaluate progress and development of the adults living in the home, recording observations, and providing feedback to the Team Leader or Service Manager.
  • Work with other members of staff to ensure that the home is maintained to high standards of cleanliness, safety, and comfort.
  • Ensure that health and safety procedures are implemented throughout the home, in line with regulatory and legislative requirements.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities as appropriate, attending staff training and development sessions to improve personal and professional knowledge and development.

Experience and Qualifications:


  • A minimum of 1 year experience working in a residential setting.
  • Practical experience of working effectively with adults in care with a range of complex needs, as well as previous experience of operational/staff management within a social care environment.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of working with young people or adults known to be vulnerable and/or who have experienced trauma, with the ability to develop and implement appropriate strategies.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with children, staff, and other stakeholders.
  • A commitment to promoting the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults, and an understanding of the legislation, guidance and good practice that support the delivery of highquality care in residential homes.
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills with the capacity to take a positive and proactive approach to change management.
  • Ability to demonstrate resilience in the workplace and to cope with change.
  • Understanding of CQC inspection frameworks and associated regulations.
