Our client seeks a Head of Operations to join their team.


Role Profile:


The Head of Operations is expected to be a leader who is able to ensure the operations both ashore and afloat meet the requirements of the Sea Services Agreement (SSA) safely, in compliance with all applicable rules and regulations and with the environment and wider stakeholders in mind.


Key Responsibilities

  • Leading the activities of the vessel and ports operations in accordance with the SSA safely, with minimum impact to the environment and within operational budget constraints and actively minimizing operational risks
  • Customer focused both passenger experience and freight requirements.
  • Providing operational advice to the board of directors, plan and develop new ideas based on leading market and industry thinking
  • Implementing the policies of the company, making sure that they are adhered to and ensuring they remain appropriate to the changing regulatory environment
  • Evolving an effective Operations Team with sufficient resources to provide operational resilience, to allow delegation in areas of specialist expertise and succession planning
  • Providing leadership and motivation to all operations employees
  • Actively contributing to and participating in the Management Team
  • Developing a set of operational KPI's for regular reporting in line with the requirements of the Board
  • Maintaining and monitoring operations budgets and driving efficiencies
  • Making key decisions regarding the operations organisation and being accountable for those decisions.
  • Managing incidents and emergencies, instigating investigations and incorporating findings into the management system.
  • Liaising with MD, FD and Non-Executive Directors to ensure a consistent approach to running the organisation and using the NED's experience to aid decision making
  • Supporting/deputising for the MD with external communications as and when required

Key Skills and Experience

  • Degree educated or equivalent
  • Marine background with seagoing experience
  • Experience in Ro-Pax operations preferably in Northern Europe
  • Highly developed organisational and communication skills
  • A high level of proven project management ability
  • The ability to think critically
  • Experience of working in a senior management role
  • Works well under pressure and able to multi task
  • Strong communication skills

Pay:
£110,000.00-£111,000.00 per year
