    Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT) is seeking a Trainee Psychologist / Therapist trained in trauma work to join our Primary Care Mental Health Treatment Requirement (PC -MHTR) Team in High Wycombe.

    You will:

    Supervise and support the assessment, formulation and treatment interventions needed by clients with trauma histories

    Work autonomously

    Implement processes and policies under the supervision of the Clinical Lead

    Contribute to research / service evaluation.

    Main duties of the job

    The delivery of primary care mental health services to service users assessed as suitable for a Primary Care - Mental Health Treatment Requirement (PC-MHTR). To support specialist psychological assessments of service users to establish the appropriateness of a PC-MHTR. To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the Trust and Health and Justice Services (H&J) policies and procedures, and access/use clinical and managerial supervision as agreed with Clinical Lead and Operational Manager. To deliver services within own area of practice/competence as agreed with the Clinical Lead, the Operational Lead and partner organisations. To collect data about the service as expected by commissioners. To attend meetings with immediate and external colleagues as required.

    Job description

    Job responsibilities

    1. Undertake specialist psychological assessments, formulations and treatment of people referred to the service, working in partnership with the person, their families/carers/support networks and other services and professionals involved.

    2. To liaise with referrers, GPs and other professionals concerned with the individual in order to develop and review care plans/treatments/interventions.

    3. Maintain contact with service users during episodes of inpatient care, care with other teams/ services and or when transitional care is active, ensuring continuity of care and effective communication.

    4. To attend MDT meetings relating to referrals or service users in treatment where appropriate.

    5. To maintain accurate, detailed and comprehensive records of all clinical work in accordance with Trust standards on record keeping.

    6. To manage ones own emotional responses resulting from the challenging behaviour of distressed/emotive and or disturbed service users and their family/carers.

    7. Manage complex cases, presenting high risk and requiring highly developed and advanced risk assessment, relapse management and crisis management skills.

    8. To receive and attend clinical supervision on a regular basis in line with Trust policy.

    9. To provide specialist advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to service users formulation and treatment plan.

    10. To utilise theory, evidence-based literature and research to support evidence based practice in individual work and work with other team members.

    Person Specification

    QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

    Essential

  • Working towards doctoral level training in applied psychology (or its equivalent, , Stage 2 Diploma), as accredited by the BPS, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology
  • Working towards chartered status with the British Psychological Society. Working towards full membership of the Division of Clinical Psychology (DCP) and/or Division of Forensic Psychology (DFP)/Division of Counselling Psychology (DCC)
  • Desirable

  • Registration with BPS and HCPC
  • Additional post graduate level training in one or more therapeutic treatment approaches cognitive therapy, systemic/family therapy, EMDR
  • EXPERIENCE

    Essential

  • Experience of working as a trainee psychologist with people with severe and enduring mental health problems; including assessment and clinical interventions for a wide range of presenting problems
  • Experience of working with community mental health services and delivery of
