Job Title: A&E Receptionist - Band 2

Job Summary:

We're on the lookout for a friendly individual to join our A&E reception team. You should excel in communication, possess strong telephone skills, and have a customer-centric approach. Your role will involve providing reception support to the clinical team in the A&E Department. Good IT skills are essential, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Due to the 24/7 service operation, flexibility is key, and you'll be working shifts that include days, evenings, and nights.

Main Duties of the Job:

Ensure a welcoming and professional first impression for patients and healthcare professionals
Handle a variety of inquiries in person, over the phone, and via email
Provide full clerical support to the A&E Department teams
Work independently to ensure the smooth operation of reception services
Coordinate follow-up appointments and referrals
Support administrative tasks across A&E and Same Day Emergency Care

Job Description:

Job Responsibilities:

Welcoming patients and visitors to the A&E department
Registering patients and updating their details in the system
Liaising with external agencies for patient information
Coordinating appointments and referrals
Responding to telephone inquiries efficiently
Ensuring operational equipment is functional
Undertaking administrative tasks such as scanning and filing
Assisting with patient admissions and discharges
Ensuring data accuracy for reporting and compliance

Person Specification:

Qualifications:

GCSE English (Grade A-C)
Computer Skills

Experience:

Essential

Word processing/database
Reception duties
Filing and Excel usage

Desirable

Healthcare setting experience
A&E experience
