    Description

    A seasoned Senior Structural Engineer sought with a broad background in various industries and the capability to operate both autonomously and as part of a team is currently needed to join a well-established building and engineering consultancy situated in their Leeds office.

    Position: Senior Structural Engineer

    The role of the senior structural engineer will involve providing support collaboratively and independently in numerous sectors, such as:

    • Insurance sector, historic structures, healthcare/NHS ventures, care facilities, retail schemes, and more.

    Responsibilities of the Senior Structural Engineer:

    • Carrying out Structural Surveys and generating reports
    • Utilizing structural software for technical design
    • Identifying defects and reporting on damages
    • Supervising junior staff and coordinating refurbishment projects
    • Communicating with clients regularly and keeping them informed
    • Handling multiple projects simultaneously, ranging from £50,000 to £1M in value
    • Creating specifications, work schedules, and budget estimates
    • Engaging with local authorities for planning approvals and consents
    • Aiding in tenders and overseeing contract administration
    • Conducting technical design tasks such as drawings, calculations, and reports
    • Reviewing sketches, reports, and calculations
    • Compiling feasibility reports
    • Conducting site visits (driving license and vehicle necessary)
    • Supervising sub-contractors
    • Participating in design meetings

    The ideal Senior Structural Engineer should also possess:

    • HND in Structural or Civil Engineering
    • 5+ years experience in British standards
    • Valid driving license
    • Proficiency in designing with concrete, steelwork, timber, and masonry
    • IStructE accreditation desirable
    • Experience with Tekla Building Designer or SCIA software
    • Proficiency in CAD
