We are seeking to recruit a strategic leader with significant experience of successfully managing a portfolio of digitally enabled change, covering legacy system replacements to transformational service change.

Key to success is embedding digital into clinical and operational practice to improve the service delivered to patients and the experience of staff.


The post holder will take a lead for digital on talent management, but also manage some key operational teams that underpin the Trust services, clinical coding, health records and information governance.

The post holder will lead the digital transformation and digital assurance programmes that underpin the oversight provided to the Digital Committee - a formal sub-committee of the Trust Board.


The digital transformation programme ensures the successful delivery of the digitally enabled change plan, working with the clinical services to achieve the benefits and outcomes.

This role manages the programme using a structured programme delivery approach to ensure milestones and benefits are delivered; budgets are managed; change, risks and issues are openly managed, and that stakeholders are engaged and informed.


The digital assurance programme provides visibility on the operational digital services, covering Information Governance, Clinical Coding, Health Records, Cyber, IT operations, Data Quality and Risk.


Responsible for strategic and operational management for major areas of the service including the Digital Transformation Team, Clinical Transformation Team, Health Records, Clinical Coding and Information Governance, ensuring the development and delivery of appropriate professional and quality standards with a real focus on customer experience.

The post holder will also be expected to make a major contribution to the digital agenda in line with the Trust's business objectives and transformation programme.

Underpinned by the Digital Strategy; and working collaboratively across the North East and North Cumbria.

Responsible for cross cutting matrix areas such as digital talent management and performance KPI's across all digital services.


Support the Chief Digital Information Officer engage key clinicians, professionals and senior leaders on the longer term digital agenda for the Trust; horizon scanning, being aware of best practice, capitalising on innovation and actively maintaining a forward thinking approach.

Management responsibility for a large and complex capital and revenue budgets.


Providing a clear, effective and appropriate leadership style that engages and empowers all members of the digital team to perform to high standards.


Work collaboratively with the Chief Digital Information Officer and Head of Digital Solutions and Technical Services to develop a positive, proactive culture and behaviours that ensures digital teams feel valued and supported to drive achievement for the staff and patients of Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust.

  • Experience acquired over significant period of time in the management and control of critical, complex daily processes and issues in a digital environment.
