Software Engineer - Metadata

£41, 715 - £46, 350** (Salary depending on experience) base salary, plus benefits listed further below.

Where will this role sit?
We're part of the Data Transfer and Management Services platform team building and managing the future centralised digital nervous system, using the power of our existing batch technologies centred on IBM's Infosphere DataStage stack, alongside our emergingcloud strategy and streaming analytics capability to get closer to our customers.
The next phase of our transformation is moving more into streaming of data and cloud technologies underpinned again through Data Management tools and techniques to meet data needs and our team will be right at the heart of that transformation.
About the role
As a Software Engineer in MetaData, you'll make a real difference, and you'll blend both deep domain and technical expertise across several component and feature teams.
You'll be innovating the epicentre of the digital revolution in Enterprise Data as we beginour journey to the cloud and enabling earlier value release for our customers.
Driving down the total cost of ownership of our products and driving agile adoption as part of the broader engineering community.
What do we need from you?
Our team is looking for an adaptable Software Engineer with a specific focus on Data Management and in particular Metadata Tooling.
As a key member of our agile development community, you'll evolve our data capabilities whilst embracing the best industry standards.
- Strong working knowledge of Metadata Tooling for Lineage, Dictionaries and Data Quality Management e.g., Collibra
- Data Modelling, Data Governance, and Data Security
- Programming knowledge either in Java or Python
- Working knowledge of SQL/NoSQL Databases
- Working knowledge of data processing, data wrangling, and data analysis techniques
- Knowledge of eventdriven architectures, batch/streaming data pipelines
- Experience of working with continuous integration, and continuous delivery technologies
It would also be nice to have someone that is:
- Google Cloud Data Engineer, or the Google Cloud Architect certifications preferred
- Have any other certifications from AWS or Microsoft for their cloud platforms
- Experience in Cloud services; AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform
- Strong skills and experience in Cloud Data Warehousing technologies eg. BigQuery
- Designing and building complex scalable data engineering solutions on any Cloud service
- Design and development of ETL/ELT pipelines using either Hadoop Technologies (Spark) or Apache Beam
- Strong working knowledge of Containerised Deployments in Docker, Kubernetes, Helm and Istio
