What is the role?


The Financial Business Modeller will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to directly contribute to the ongoing success of Gatwick Airport, providing financial modelling and business case support that contributes to Gatwick's planning strategy.


As Financial Business Modeller you will be responsible for financial models for various projects and programmes that support the delivery of Gatwick's strategic objectives.


What will you do?

Treasury Management:


  • Maintaining the monthly and annual cash flow model and assessing the impacts of model outputs on Gatwick's short term financing requirements.
  • Maintaining the corporate treasury model to support biannual reporting to banks, bondholders, and rating agencies.
  • Preparing long treasury forecasts to support Gatwick's medium and long term financing strategies.

Corporate Financial Planning:


  • Creating, developing and maintaining a long term financial model capable of supporting the strategic objectives of Gatwick. This will include developing outputs to assist in short, medium and long term business planning.
  • Supporting the Financial Accounting Manager and Investor Relations Manager in communicating GAL performance and financial projections to shareholders and potential investors.
  • Providing modelling support to assess the financial impacts of Gatwick's Contracts and Commitments to airlines operating at the airport.
  • Providing modelling support from timetotime to projects across the full finance spectrum.

Northern Runway and Capital Investment Programme:

  • Providing financial modelling support to Finance and the wider business, in particular to support key strategic capital expenditure and commercial business cases through detailed financial analysis and sensitivities.
  • Additional elements and accountabilities of the role include: Building, populating and using financial models for projects throughout Gatwick.
  • Ensuring the availability and adequacy of data to be used in models is of sufficient quality by establishing procedures for collecting and manipulating information and building in appropriate checks and controls, including the introduction of a modellingprotocol.
  • Providing good quality, timely financial modelling advice to stakeholders, in a way that non specialists can readily understand and maintain a reputation for excellence.
  • Providing high quality and timely financial impact assessments to Executive Team, Board, and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinating and maintaining a plan of various stakeholder requirements and delivering model updates according to this plan to ensure all models are uptodate and reflective of current business plans, including liaising with stakeholders to ensure thatmodels are based on the most recent actual reported data.
  • Providing any required sensitivity analysis on the models, testing the robustness of the models to changes in assumptions and assessing the risk of various project returns.

Do you have what we're looking for?

  • A qualified accountant with considerable experience in delivering high quality analysis and business cases to Senior Management.
  • An education to degree standard (min 2:1) is required, or a demonstration of ability to the same level delivered in a working environment.
  • Proven delivery of developing and delivering complex business / financial models.
  • Ability to operate at a senior level responsible for key business critical activities reporting to the Financial Accounting Manager.
  • Commercial acumen with the ability to think strategically to maximise future business opportunities and challenge financial model inputs, outputs, and assumptions.
  • Thorough understanding of financial planning tools and financial analysis concepts like investment appraisal NPV, IRR, payback, etc.
  • Financial accounting and / or corporate finance experience, treasury understanding preferable.
  • Advance problem solving, including ability to identify patterns within large data sets.
  • Strong PowerPoint and Excel skills including VBA, graphs and statistical formulas.
  • Excellent communicator / influencer with the ability to flex / adapt to different audiences.
