Job summary
Exciting full-time opportunity for a motivated cardiac physiologist to join our expanding echocardiography team, performing and reporting outpatient and inpatient adult echocardiograms. The role will include developing and training junior members of staff including cardiology registrars as well as developing the echocardiography service including being part of the quality assurance process. We are a supportive team who aim to always provide high level, patient focused service whist supporting our staff.
Main duties of the job
Thisrole is based within the Echo department and is a full time echo role
To work as an independentpractitioner within the Cardiology team
To be BSE accredited; to be able toperform and report own echocardiograms and to amend and validate juniorphysiologists echocardiogram reports
Topractise with a high level of skill and autonomy a range of other cardiacphysiology procedures and be expected to perform them if requiredTo provide technical expertise,supervision, support and training to technical and medical staffTo produce technically satisfactory reportsin accordance with national and departmental communicate complex instructionsand clinical information effectively to all categories of patients, ensuringco-operation and compliance to obtain accurate technical and clinical dataTo analyse clinical information andclinical conditions during procedures, whereby judgement is required todetermine the appropriate course of action. To report all untoward events oruncertainties to the Head of Department. To work at all times in a safe andresponsible manner. To plan and prioritise personalworkloads according to daily staffing advise junior medical staff onthe availability, selection and appropriateness of test procedures

Job descriptionJob responsibilities
To perform unsupervised Cardiac Ultrasoundexaminations to diagnose Cardiac abnormalities.
To provide clinical interpretation and hightechnical expertise on Cardiac Ultrasound scans performed by self and juniormembers of staff, in accordance with the British Society of Echocardiographystandards, guidelines and departmental protocols and policies. Actingappropriately in the event of significant adverse findings, alerting physicianswhen immediate medical attention is required.
To take responsibility to perform cardiopulmonaryresuscitation and defibrillation on patients in an emergency situation.
Awareness of adverse clinical conditions/clinical eventsoccuring during the investigations and ensuring swift and appropriate action istaken to minimise life threatening or significant medical events.
To be familiar with current developments in thefield of Cardiology.
To liaise with other departments and Companiesregarding maintenance and repairs to existing equipment within the department.
To liaise in conjunction with the Head ofDepartment, regarding evaluation of new clinical equipment.
To be involved in the Stress Echoand TOE services and receive appropriate training if needed.
