    East Cheshire NHS trust are opening a purpose-built Community Diagnostic centre at the Congleton War Memorial Hospital site.

    We are developing and expanding our Cardio-respiratory department to support a wide range of diagnostic services and we are seeking a highly motivated respiratory and sleep physiologist to join our dynamic team.

    You will work on rotation at both the Congleton and Macclesfield sites to ensure you maintain competency in all areas and gain exposure to specialist testing, MDT and review sessions.


    The department offers a comprehensive range of non-invasive Cardiac and Respiratory investigations including Spirometry, full PFT's, Bronchial Challenge test, Mouth Pressures, Limited channel sleep studies and Oximetry analysis.

    You will possess extensive experience of respiratory diagnostic testing and a sound understanding of Respiratory and sleep diagnostic and therapeutic pathways including sleep disordered breathing and sleep apnoea.

    This will include working in conjunction with the department manager, Respiratory and sleep consultants to ensure the service needs are met and that patients receive high quality diagnostic investigations and therapy.

    BSc (Bachelor of Sciences) clinical Physiology or equivalent
    ARTP (Association for Respiratory Technology & Physiology) part 1 and part 2
    Evidence of ongoing professional development
    MSc (Master of Science) or equivalent
    Registered with RCCP AHCS or BRPT (Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists, Academy for Healthcare Science, or Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists)
    Training for trainers

    ARTP (Association for Respiratory Technology & Physiology) Sleep Certificate

    At least 4 years post qualification specialist theoretical knowledge and clinical practice within Respiratory Physiology and sleep services.
    Ability to undertake complex diagnostic tests independently specifically within Respiratory Physiology
    Ability to analyse and interpret complex data producing accurate reports
    Experience of appraisal and delivering education/mentorship to trainees
    Understands the broader role of Cardio-Respiratory Physiology within the NHS

    High level of hands on skill in Respiratory and sleep physiology
    IT user skills in clinical data manipulation
