Salary:
£23,144 to £24,285 with progression to £26,396 per annum

The Role


Do you have the skills and experience to provide a professional and proactive service to colleagues, students, and visitors? The Faculty of Science, Agriculture and Engineering (SAgE) Professional Services team could be the place for you.


Based in the Devonshire Building, as part of the Faculty Office, we are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and customer focused individual to the role of Operations Administrator.

You will manage the reception, take a lead in the smooth running of the Faculty Office and the building, acting as Health & Safety Officer for the Faculty Office, and contributing to the maintenance of a safe working environment for colleagues and visitors.


You will also be expected to undertake a wide range of administrative support tasks and will gain experience across the whole office function.

The role will require you to act as a secretary to meetings, supporting logístical arrangements, agenda preparation, minute taking and monitoring progress of actions.


You should have attained Maths and English at GCSE Level 4 or equivalent with relevant experience in an administrative or customer service setting.

The appointment is open-ended and available on a full-time basis (37 hours per week), with an immediate start date.

Key Accountabilities
Provide a professional and proactive service to colleagues, students, and visitors with a clear focus on customer service
Lead the administration of designated processes within your area, including adhering to agreed operating procedures, escalating as appropriate and monitoring progress
Support the Technical Central Services budget holder with oversight of monthly spending and account charges
Develop, implement and maintain effective office procedures and systems to ensure that support is efficient, timely and accurate
Act as secretary to meetings including logístical arrangements such as room bookings, agenda preparation and circulation, minute taking and monitoring progress of actions, and occasionally deputising for the Chair of the Devonshire Building User Group meetings
Act as Health & Safety Officer for the Faculty Office and contributing to the maintenance of a safe working environment for colleagues and visitors
Take the lead on general administrative support to colleagues and students as required, including (but not limited to) purchasing, travel, assisting with the running of events
Work as part of a wider Faculty and unit team and to undertake other duties within the scope and general nature of the grade which may be required

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Good IT skills with experience of Microsoft suite of programmes
An excellent communicator both verbally and in writing with the ability to tailor messages to the appropriate audiences

Experience of working independently and as part of a team.
Experience of administrative duties, including but not limited to general meeting support, diary management, dealing with enquiries.
Ability to train/develop and manage other staff.
Knowledge of general Health & Safety principles and policies.
