The Planning Coordinator will support the business unit by assisting in effective planning techniques to support the planning team, monitoring and reporting across a wide range of projects of varying scale and complexity.


About the role:


  • Planning
  • Support in the development of an integrated project schedule across a number of development and delivery areas, ensuring dependencies and interfaces are effectively managed, identifying any risks and potential impacts where applicable


  • Project Management

  • Support in schedule input into the development of an integrated project baseline across a number of development and delivery areas, correlating schedule, cost and risk assessment through to influence critical path analysis and providing robust/quality plans to support decision making


  • Supply Chain

  • Assist in identifying key programme interfaces and work with the delivery teams, within both HS2 and the supply chain, to document and manage these


  • Contract Management

  • Assist in the preparation of claims and providing data for contractual requirements to the plans and schedules submitted by the supply chain


  • Information management

  • Assist in the provision of project performance data, project schedules and reports in a concise and timely manner as required by the project's team leads


  • Risk Management

  • Support in Whatif scenario planning providing integrated solutions to programme and project conflicts and recoveries, supporting trade off decision making


  • Governance

  • Assist in the input into the development of planning and integration policy, processes and standards across the business, leveraging industry best practice to drive continuous improvement and assure that these are implemented consistently and effectively across development and delivery areas
  • Actively promote and embed Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work, and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.

About You:


Skills:


  • Ability to implement the delivery of processes, procedures and guidance in support of project delivery and to improve efficiency and accuracy within planning systems
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data, producing accurate, timely and informative reports in multiple formats targeted to the needs of the audience
  • Ability to contribute within a team environment allowing effective decisions to be implemented
  • Problem solving abilities with an attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt to changing requirements and environments
  • Communication skills to influence and manage communications at an operational level with the project team and both internal and external stakeholders
  • Be able to operate within agreed deadlines for reporting in accordance with company and client requirements
  • Understanding of project and programme lifecycle

Knowledge:


  • Awareness of planning systems, processes and procedures
  • Awareness of the core Project Controls disciplines, including; Schedule Management, Cost Management, Change Management and Risk Management and how they interrelate
  • Awareness of NEC contracts, amendments, early warning notices and the work flows of communications between contractor and client
  • Awareness of the stages of the project life cycle

Type of experience:


  • Experience of completing analytical tasks and presenting data in report format
  • Experience within project management roles within delivery projects
  • Experience of working both individually and as part of a team for the delivery of the planning function within a project team
  • Awareness of management and control of key Project Controls systems (e.g. Primavera P6)
  • Awareness of contract progress and schedule change reviews.
