Morgan Hunt is currently working with a large regulatory body in search of a temporary Communications Consultant


Role:
Senior Associate Communications Officer


Contract length:
Temporary until end of April 2023


Location:
hybrid or home based


Start date:

Pay:
£250+holiday a day ( £280)
Key responsibilities of the interim Senior Associate Communications Officer:

  • Help to oversee the press office function within organisation, acting as a point of contact for the media
  • national print, broadcast and trade.
  • Work closely with the relevant policy leads, to build proactive media and stakeholder engagement opportunities.
  • Contribute to our reactive media handling. You will draft lines to take, statements and press releases.
  • Monitor parliamentary interest and contribute to proactive and reactive handling of interest form Committees and individual MPs
  • Ensure that senior leadership are briefed on any relevant news stories or emerging issues.
  • As a member of Communications team, you will actively support broader communications activities and campaigns.
Previous experience and skills of the Senior Associate Communications Officer:

  • You will have substantial previous experience in a busy comms team, working on press and parliamentary engagement, to the point where you will feel confident overseeing all aspects of the press office function with mínimal supervision.
  • Experience of being able to plan ahead and joining up thinking strategically.
  • Experience of horizon scanning; identifying issues and challenges in the external environment and developing appropriate responses.
  • You should have excellent writing skills, including a flair for turning complex technical material into compelling content.
  • As the comms officer for a regulator overseeing a vital public service, you must feel confident working in an occasionally demanding, high pressure environment, with tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in being able to challenge and influence the thinking of internal colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • You must demonstrate a strong interest in and detailed understanding of, all aspects of the modern 24hour media landscape
