    Based in Stourbridge

    The Glasshouse College provides innovative and experiential education and training for young people marginalised by disadvantage, exclusion or special learning needs. Inspired by Rudolf Steiner, William Morris and John Ruskin, the college actively promotes the industrial heritage of the Black Country, craftsmanship and entrepreneurship in traditional and contemporary industry and crafts.

    For more than 35 years, Ruskin Mill Trust has delivered an innovative Practical Skills Therapeutic Education (PSTE) curriculum method to children and adults with complex needs, including autistic spectrum conditions and other learning differences and disabilities. Inspired by Aonghus Gordon using the insights of Rudolf Steiner, John Ruskin and William Morris, the PSTE method centres around heritage craft and land activities, working with hand, head, heart and place to provide students with the tools to transform material and in doing so transform themselves.

    Student Engagement Coordinator

    40 hours per week, 40 weeks per year

    Salary Range FTE £24,717 – £25,792

    Actual salary (Pro rata over 40 weeks) £21,686 – £22,629

    Starting salary will be dependent on qualifications.

    Based at Glasshouse College, Stourbridge

    We are seeking to recruit a Student Engagement Coordinator to lead a group of support workers in assisting and supporting students with complex needs to access, engage and progress within the College's innovative practical skills therapeutic education (PSTE) curriculum.

    Main Duties:

  • To line manage a group of Daytime Support Workers;
  • To work directly with students, as and when required;
  • To work proactively with the Education Health & Care Management team in the delivery of effective learner engagement strategies for students;
  • To take a proactive approach to student behaviour management ensuring all data is accurately reported and in a timely manner;
  • Where required, support the debriefing process within the staff body;
  • To communicate with management in relation to behaviour management strategies;
  • To administer student medication, as necessary;
  • To transport students via college minibuses, and fulfil any other requirements needed to transport students in college vehicles;
  • To be a trainer, for CPI safety intervention and other areas as required and agreed by the line manager and the Principal.
  • A flexible and professional approach to work is required.
