The Role
Think, create and deliver concepts that consider brand, cost and supply needs. Bring together these elements to solve problems, answer the brief and present your ideas clearly within the business.

Creating new ideas whilst considering all aspects and the effects that design decisions have on the end 3d result.


Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Concept Design Manager and team to understand how much effort we place into specific projects.
  • Ensure you have the right information within the brief prior to designing. Find, chase, ask and hound your team.
  • You are here to think. Ensure you have thought through your ideas. Seek out and discuss your solutions with the relevant people within Sales, Design and Supply as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with Technical Design early in the project process. Seek advice when necessary. Handover your ideas and explain the details when progressing to prototype. Keep in contact through the development of the design. Learn from the results.
  • Plan your workload within your team. Use the Design Schedule to clearly communicate your time. Flag issues to CDM when your schedule is unsustainable and work through solutions to get the work through the studio.
  • Check your designs answer the brief before releasing your work from the studio.
  • Demonstrate trends, fashions and style cues in your work and translate these for others to see.

Skill set and experience

  • 1 to 2 years' experience working in POP/retail design industry
  • Working knowledge and experience in designing for manufacturing displays in:
  • Plastic sheet fabrication, Vacuum forming, Injection moulding, extrusions
  • Metal sheet metal, wire forming, steel tube and finishing
  • Wood and wood byproducts, millwork
  • Experienced user of design software. Specific experience in 3D Studio Max required
  • Software knowledge: Solidworks, Adobe CS (Illustrator, Photoshop). 3D rendering a plus (StudioMax,)
  • Strong sketching ability
  • Proven abilities in problem solving / lateral thinking.
  • Good interpersonal skills—works well in a team environment
  • Ability to work flexible hours, available to travel.

Education
3D Industrial and Product Design, B.A. or M.A.
