Description

This is a PART TIME ROLE - 3 DAY WEEK

As Head of Operations and Programmes you will be responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing the structures and processes that ensure TrustMark Research and Innovation (TRI) runs smoothly and reports to its various boards and funders on time and as expected.

As a Not-For-Profit, TRI's funding comes from various public sources, and is linked to the delivery of particular sets of outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Whilst not responsible for delivering these outcomes, it will be your role to ensure the requirements of the funders are understood and that TRI delivers reports, financial statements etc. on time and in full.
  • Your experience of coordinating activities across multiple sites, handling complex information, and delivering to internal and external stakeholders to tight deadlines will be invaluable.
  • TRI is a startup organisation and, as such, does not have many systems and processes in place. However, startups fail where systems and processes are not developed with organisational growth in mind. Your role therefore will involve developing the systems and processes our organisation requires to grow.
  • Your experience of developing and running ISO9001 QMS systems will be invaluable.
  • As with any startup, there will be a requirement for a flexible approach to your daytoday activities, and you may be required to spend time liaising directly with external HR, Finance and IT providers.
  • You will be the primary contact for Welsh Government, Innovate UK, UKRI and other public sector bodies for whom TRI delivers solutions. Familiarity with these organisations would be a great benefit.
  • TRI handles significant amounts of public data and therefore has regulated data requirements. Whilst it is not expected that you are a data or GDPR expert, your experience of working in a heavily regulated environment will be essential.
  • You will be responsible for keeping project programme, reports, charts and risk registers uptodate and liaising with TRI staff to obtain the necessary information to update these documents.

Key skills and experience - Minimum requirements

  • BSc / BA, a masters or equivalent qualification preferred.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of experience working in project / programme management and / or operations within a heavily regulated commercial sector.
  • Demonstrable experience of designing, implementing and managing an ISO9001:2008 QMS.
  • Experience of working in an R&D intensive startup business would be an advantage
  • Experience of coordinating outputs from dispersed and diverse teams, working to tight timescales and defined deadlines.
  • Excellent organisational skills and an eye for detail.
  • Ability to work with mínimal direction, comfortable working in a remote organisation.
  • Familiarity with Innovate UK / UKRI through previous projects / funding would be an advantage.
  • Experience of preparing documentation packs for Board meetings and / or regular Executive review meetings.
  • Experience of executive support roles and tasks as well as stakeholder management.
