The role
As a Remote Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) Operator you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary.

As a team member you will be trained to fly this unique platform and deliver world-class unmanned capabilities around the UK and beyond.

Working within the team you will also be a key part of the mission planning activities working closely with Babcock's civil, military and government customers.


Day to day, you'll:

  • Maintain your own currency and competency on the platforms, once you've received formal training, via a proactive approach to selflearning and continuous development
  • Controll a payload using the Ground Control Station (GCS)
  • Ensure the safe conduct of flight operations at all times
  • Support in all flight activities (Pre and Post)
  • Monitor and managing your own rest around predefined shift rotas, as well as maintaining your medical status.

Essential experience of the Remote Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) Operator

  • Aviation experience as flight crew or engineer, either military or civil
  • Beyond visual line of sight, large RPAS operating experience.


This role is based onsite at Ashchurch and you must be able and willing to travel within the UK and overseas.


Qualifications for the Remote Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) Operator

  • Able to meet UK DVLA Group2 or medical standards or a minimum of Class3 aviation medical standards from an ICAO contracting state.
  • Aviation or aerospace technical qualifications, including current or previous flight crew or engineering licenses.
  • Level3 or higher qualifications in aviation or aerospace, or comparable experience
