    Furness Rehabilitation Ward is a 19 bedded unit providing inpatient rehabilitation to patients requiring a bit more time and support to recover post fall, fractures or other medical and surgical intervention before returning home, and is based at Willesden Centre for Health & Care, NW10

    Main duties of the job

    We are looking for enthusiastic Healthcare Assistants who are interested in developing their skills in rehabilitation by promoting independence and wellbeing. You will be working with an extensive multidisciplinary team comprising of medical staff, physio and occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and dietician to name just a few.

    You will need to have a flexible approach, have an interest in rehabilitation, be able to act on your own initiative, communicate with a wide range of people and be flexible in your approach to change.

    There will be further opportunity to develop your skills through training and access to apprenticeship courses and as you assist in supporting student nurses and Allied Health Professionals in our service

    Car parking is available on site for the cost of a permit, and we have good transport links by bus with the jubilee line tube stations a 15 minute walk away.

    Job responsibilities

    The Healthcare Assistant (HCA) will provide a mixture of general and specific care to a group of patients under the guidance and supervision of a registered nurse or allied health professional.

    The post holder will be expected to become proficient and competent in their area of practice by undertaking competency assessments specific to the area of clinical practice. The HCA will promote optimum independence and individualised client centred care to a delegated caseload.

    The post holder will also support the Community Nursing/Rehab Team to deliver against key performance indicators and maintain quality of the service.

  • Higher Professional Diploma in Health and Wellbeing (NVQ/QCF - Level 3) or A recognised equivalent course
  • Willingness to undertake further training as appropriate
  • Desirable

  • GCSE grade A-C or equivalent in English and Maths ECDL certificate
