The Opportunity


To support our growth in Energy, we have a new opportunity for a Senior Energy Consultant to join our team in Manchester or Sheffield.


You will design, consult, and take a leadership role on a wide variety of complex and ambitious decarbonising energy projects including energy distribution, district heating/cooling, renewable electricity generation (solar photovoltaic, wind and biomass), low carbon heat generation and emergent technologies (hydrogen, CCUS, large scale energy storage).

You will be working for a range of clients including national, regional, and local government, energy developers, education establishments, industry, and healthcare providers.

Our projects strive for innovation and quality employing conventional, renewable, and emerging technologies as appropriate for our clients.

Recent projects include solar photovoltaics, electricity storage, low temperature heat networks, low carbon heat generation, hydrogen for transport, biomass CHP projects, energy recovery facilities and gas CHP plants for horticulture involving the capture of CO2, energy market reserves, university/healthcare campuses and data centres.


Is this role right for you?

  • Qualitative and quantitative analysis of energy data and trends
  • Leading technical consulting projects including energy infrastructure feasibility studies and portfolio or area energy strategies
  • Developing business cases for energy investments and infrastructure refurbishments
  • Energy decarbonisation masterplanning at an estate, city, regional and national scale
  • Advising public and private sector clients on options, risks, and appropriate actions in their pursuit of net zero carbon
  • Researching innovative low carbon energy systems and other topics related to energy, cities, resilience, and climate change
  • Full Member and Chartered Engineer status via an appropriate professional institution, such as the Institution of Engineering and Technology, the Energy Institute, the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, or the Chartered Institution of Building Service Engineers
