As a Behavior Mentor, you will play a crucial role in supporting both primary and secondary aged students with diverse needs, including Autism, ADHD, and challenging behavior.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualised support and guidance to students, helping them manage their emotions and develop effective coping strategies.
- Implement proactive behavior management techniques to create a positive and supportive learning environment.
- Foster trusting relationships with students, offering encouragement and assistance to promote their social and emotional wellbeing.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to develop personalised support plans for students, addressing their specific needs and goals.
- Respond to challenging situations with patience and empathy, utilising deescalation strategies and conflict resolution techniques.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the relevant stakeholders to ensure continuous support and improvement.
- Facilitate group activities and discussions aimed at promoting social skills, selfawareness, and emotional regulation.
- Model positive behavior and encourage students to communicate effectively and collaborate with their peers.
- Create a sense of belonging and acceptance within the school community, celebrating diversity and promoting inclusion.
- Maintain open and effective communication with teachers, parents, and colleagues, sharing insights and updates to ensure coordinated support for each student.
- Collaborate with external agencies and professionals to access additional resources and support for students as needed.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills in behavior management and child development.
