Web Content Manager to join their team


As the
Web Content Manager, you will be tasked to help the organisation develop and optimise their website content to better meet users' needs, working with Web Editors in the Digital Engagement team and stakeholdersacross the library.


This ensures the organisation have appropriate policies and process in place for managing and developing their contentand can identify new opportunities to improve the experience for their users.


The Web Manager helps them deliver a website that delivers the best user experience, is accessible, brings the library to life online and ultimately allows them to reach more people.


This role ensures that the website content is well-structured, easy to find and provides the right content and is up to date and accurate.

The content includes web pages, images, videos, blog


Main responsibilities will include:


  • Working across the library, with developers and editors to ensure that the organisation's content best serves their users and is aligned with Library strategic objectives.
  • The
    Web Content Manager will develop more effective online customer journeys for different Library products, services and their different audiences.
  • Working with stakeholders across the organisation, develop and engage with the new web governance framework, gaining buyin and ongoing usage.
  • Support organisationwide web editors in developing content, providing advice on how to best use the website functionality and develop content for their users.
  • Regularly review content to identify opportunities, spotting issues to improve user experience, organisational storytelling, accessibility and conversion.
  • Be a superuser of the Library's CMS platform, advising on the most effective ways to develop and deliver content organisationally.
  • Develop a web content roadmap and annual content development plan to be implemented by Web Editors, working with Marketing Managers and stakeholders from across the organisation.
  • Collaborate with the Web Development team to develop and prioritise a map of development needs and support new content builds on the Library's existing CMS (SiteCore).
  • Respond to and troubleshoot website issues.
  • AS the
    Web Content Manager,you will be responsible for 2 Web Editors and a Sounds Web Producer
  • Organisation wide Web Editors (80 people)
  • Produce maps and visualisations of the site to help staff understand the structure and function of the website.
  • Audit existing content and define key audiences, user personas, information architecture and site taxonomy.
  • Write and edit web copy and source, commission and edit images, audio and videos.
  • Conduct content audits to eliminate redundant and/or duplicate information in website content.
  • Ensure full compliance on the website with all laws and regulations. Implements and ensures adherence to Library corporate policies working with the Corporate Information Management Unit Responsible for the visual identity of the library's web presence.

Your experience will include:


  • Strategic, and able to oversee large projects and coordinate the work of others as developed new web strategies and defined future web requirements
  • Experience of monitoring website use and using these insights to make recommendations for content improvements e.g., Google analytics
  • Able to research, collate and summarise information from different sources
  • Highly organised, with the ability to work on multiple projects at once, outstanding problemsolving skills
  • Tailor communications to suit different audiences and deliver presentations
  • Experience of managing relationships with multiple stakeholders
  • Meticulous attention to detail and fantastic content creation, an excellent standard of written English and the ability to adapt and implement our house style
  • Experience writing for the web and the techniques needed for industryleading web copy
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe suite, HTML, Content Management Systems to build web pages and edit content, and W3C Web standards
  • A detailed understanding of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Pay Per Click (PPC), HTML, CSS and web accessibility standards
