Reporting to the Plant Manager you will be highly reactive to meeting the day to day maintenance, repair, troubleshooting and servicing of production manufacturing machinery.

Essentially you will maintain all plant equipment to maximise available productionactivities whilst ensuring a safe working environment in line with the company Health and Safety procedures.

Flexibility is key and the hours will be (earlies hrs and (Lates hrs, alternating weekly. This gives complete support for the automation and manufacturing processes.


Core Responsibilities


The Engineering Technician is primarily responsible for delivering Preventative, Corrective and Reactive support to the operations team across all aspects of the site assets and infrastructure and to ensure the reliability and efficiency of manufacturingmachinery.


  • Carry out essential machine maintenance duties reacting to a fast pace production environment.
  • Planning and undertaking scheduled maintenance on key plant and equipment as specified within preventative maintenance plans.
  • To use and regularly update the departmental reporting systems, including reporting faults as well as documenting preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Ensuring critical spare parts are held and controlled to mínimalise production down time in case of component failure.
  • Collaborate with site Management team to ensure site mínimal disruption to production output.
  • Hands on approach and reactive to changeable workloads with the technical expertise to make appropriate decisions for engineering tasks.
  • Planned maintenance, replacement, repair of mechanical/electrical parts including Pneumatic & Hydraulic systems
  • Responding to breakdowns across the site in a timely manner ensuring minimum disruption to productivity.
  • Diagnosing faults and making recommendations for plant improvement in terms of safety and productivity.
  • Obtaining specialist components, fixtures or fittings as necessary to undertake duties.
  • Ensuring plant, equipment and facilities meet compliance with Health and Safety legislation

Person Specification

  • Have proven fault finding experience in a busy manufacturing site.
  • Have experience of working with PLC's, AC and DC Motors and drives.
  • Have experience of working on Pneumatic and Hydraulic systems.
  • Have experience of working with mechanical power transfer systems e.g. drive belts, transfer chains and bearing systems.
  • The ability to interpret and amend technical mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Strong decision making skills.
  • Good IT Skills (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Have a minimum of 5 years maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Cover for other members of the engineering team during their absence as required.
