Job summary:


  • Work as part of the High Lodge team to provide an excellent visitor experience leading on cleaning standards and presentation of the visitor attraction. The Visitor Service Officer will also support management of volunteers, site marketing and social media engagement.
  • High Lodge Forest Center is a popular recreational site that attracts 500,000 visitors per annum and provides extensive play, walking and cycle trail networks including an allability Heritage Trail, BBQ facilities, open space for public recreation and forest regeneration programmes. High Lodge is a regular events hosting site including Active Forest events, outdoor cinema and the Forest Live concert series which caters to 40,000 ticket holders over 4 nights.

Job description:


  • Oversee the upkeep and maintenance of the site on a daily basis ensuring a well maintained, safe and presentable visitor attraction
  • Implement the current cleaning specification as required, maintaining high standards and improving standards where identified
  • Ensure health and safety standards within your work area e.g. COSHH
  • Undertake regular inspections using agreed inspections sheets as per High Lodge guidance
  • Take ownership of the recruitment and admin of volunteers according to the business need using the 'Connections' portal
  • Maintain positive working relationship with current volunteers and seek new opportunities
  • Keep an active involvement in High Lodge marketing and social media
  • The Visitor Services Officer also fulfills the Duty Manager Role on a rota basis which involves supervising the day to day running of the site
  • You will support within the Information Point; providing accurate information to the customers in a friendly manner, whilst also operating the ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) parking system
  • You will be required to work alongside other departments at High Lodge at times to support the business need
  • Lead the visitor service team in undertaking daily cleaning duties, which include the main toilet block, litter collection, emptying of bins and cleaning BBQ's
  • Take ownership of the recruitment and admin of volunteers according to the business need using the 'Connections' portal
  • Support and improve High Lodge's marketing program and social media presence
  • Undertake light grounds maintenance duties such as leaf collection, sweeping pathways and general tidying of site
  • Support the management of site services including undertaking regular meter readings, assisting contractors and liaison with Business Partners
  • Support visitor services team by providing customer information and operating the site entry system
  • Support with practical estate work to trails and play infrastructure mostly at off peak times
Duty Manager

  • Managing the day to day running of the site
  • Overseeing Visitor Services staff
  • Liaising with Business Partners
  • Managing the ANPR car park system
  • Dealing with lost children, first aids, customer complaints

Person specification:


Experience

  • Previous experience working in a customer facing role
  • Experiences leading a team and motivating others
  • Experience of working successfully in partnership with stakeholders/volunteers
  • A good knowledge of marketing and social media
  • Previous experience of undertaking a caretaker / cleaner or similar practical role
  • Understanding of Health and Safety issues within an outdoor recreation context
