What we're looking for:


Peabody are looking for two Specialist Outreach Workers to join a team supporting rough sleepers in the community and in temporary accommodation.

The team identify rough sleepers and support them to access housing, health and accommodation services.


Do you have;

  • Experience of working with people with complex needs and homelessness in an inreach/outreach, floating support or accommodation based setting.
  • The ability to engage with people who are rough sleeping, in crisis and in chaotic situations.
  • Experience / understanding of a trauma informed and psychologically informed approaches.
  • Experience of conducting risk and need assessments.
  • Good knowledge of housing options & welfare benefits.
  • A good knowledge of statutory and community services across Essex.

A bit about the role:


The aim of the Specialist Outreach Worker role is to ensure more rough sleepers are able to access Housing and are Supported to access services and move on into independent living.

Your key responsibilities will include;

  • To promote and deliver an in/outreach service, working to reduce rough sleeping in Basildon.
  • Engage and support rough sleepers with housing and treatment providers. Enabling them to make informed choices about their lives and manage their emotional and personal wellbeing.
  • To provide advocacy and promote physical and financial wellbeing and to develop an environment of cooperation and support.
  • Maintain accurate records for customers and encourage them to engage and lead on their support.
  • With colleagues, plan, arrange and participate in customer involvement activities.
  • To work collaboratively with other partners, to ensure positive outcomes for the customers.
  • To be able to lone work and work within a multidisciplinary team.
  • This role will require an Enhanced DBS check and driving licence with access to your own vehicle with business insurance included._
