Position Summary:


The Warehouse Supervisor will have responsibility for the safety, quality, provision of received and dispatched product, ready for on time delivery to both inland and overseas customers.

Working with other Distribution Team Leaders, you will prioritise ensuring that materials and products are handled, stored and accurately maintained, the warehouse organized in the safest, most efficient way and items processed following a hierarchical Safety, Quality and Delivery (SQD) model.

This is achieved by leading flexible, highly engaged and empowered teams across multiple shifts, ensuring that defined procedures are always followed, to deliver product safely, accurately and efficiently.

This role is an initial 6 month Fixed Term Contract.


Responsibilities:


  • Leadership of the team with a professional approach and role model leadership in all situations this may include conducting or supporting performance discussions and assessments, and other employee relations activities including disciplinary investigations, absence reviews and Return To Works etc.
  • Responsible for all Safety, Quality (RFT), Delivery (LOTIF), Cost and Inventory elements within the teams, provisioning and reporting out routinely on performance and recovery plans where appropriate.
  • Lead daytoday resource planning in the department to meet all Stock management and material handling demands.
  • Set daily direction/plans for teams by ensuring effective tiered meetings take place, participating and leading Tier 2 & supporting Tier 3 meetings as required.
  • Rolemodel the Thermo Fisher Scientific 4I Values, leading by with a safetyfirst approach, constantly challenging to improve processes with continuous improvement and supporting effective change management.
  • In collaboration with other departments, lead/support the problem solving of issues using a RCCM approach, in a calm and professional manner, providing clear, concise and appropriate feedback to the business.
  • Drive department Gembas, Standard Work, Training, WI's and SOP's to ensure all are current, up to date and in use, providing a repeatable and stable structure in the warehouse team
  • Plan/support the onboarding and ongoing training of new starters. Agree training plans for the upskilling of all team members to optimise flexibility, team efficiency and engagement.
  • Deputise for Team Leaders and Managers when required to ensure output and performance are sustained across all areas.
  • Requirement to sign dangerous goods transportation documents taking legal responsibility for their packaging and presentation to the carrier. As such failure to follow the regulations as trained could potentially lead to them being liable for prosecution in a court of law.
  • Spreading PPI (Practical Process Improvement) culture with specific training and engagement activities, creating a knowledge sharing culture
  • Developing professional profile in order to be ready and prepared in the future to cover a different position in the organization.
  • Utilise computer software to process information
  • SAP ERP, Microsoft Office, and tailored programs/business systems. Use systems to support troubleshooting and incident/process investigations.
  • Further duties and responsibilities as required by the business and within the capabilities of the post holder.

  • Strong computer/system skills (intermediate to advanced MS Office user).
  • Strong organizational skills for coordinating and delivering training at multiple levels
  • Criminal background and security checks in accordance with Known Consignor requirements.
