£24,285 per annum pro-rata, which equals to £13.31 per hour

This internship is only open to current University of Edinburgh PhD students who will be based in the UK for the duration of the internship.


We are looking for a skilled writer to support the Edinburgh Futures Institute (EFI) Research team to highlight examples of research activities and promote our successes on our website and social media.


The Opportunity:


This post supports the EFI International Co-ordinator to establish with key members of the EFI community their internationalization ambitions and needs, and map current international partnerships and activities.

- carry out the research and analysis required to support the creation of an international strategy for EFI;
- identify some key principle to establish networks, collaborations and partnerships that align with EFI's strategic vision, values and priorities, in academia as well as the corporate and public sectors;
- map existing networks and alliances in order to identify key partners


This position is a unique opportunity to gain experience and develop analytical skills as well as practical skills such as preparing reports and collate information to be used in strategic documents.

  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with a range of stakeholders, with strong written English language skills
  • A selfmotivated and enthusiastic team player with the ability to work independently
  • A creative approach to problemsolving, with the ability to identify the best way to approach a task
  • Ability to conduct online research, synthesise information and summarise findings in a clear and concise format for a lay audience

The University will employ full-time PG students for no more than an average of 9 hours per week across the academic year (as per its policy ), and you must make sure any employment complies with any visa or funding conditions you may have.

Should you be successful, you will require written confirmation from your academic supervisor that you can undertake the internship. We recommend that students discuss the internship with their supervisor, as well as with their employer, before applying.

On this occasion the University will not consider applicants requiring sponsorship for this role.
