The opportunity;

The Head of HR Operations is critical leadership role which will play a key part in Northern PowerGrid's people function, driving the people strategy through high performance alongside best use of technology.

The Head of HR Operations will lead the newly formed team of HR Business Partners, partnering with business leaders and driving a highly commercial and solutions focused service that supports business objectives.

You will also lead the core areas of the HRfunction including HR Advice and Guidance, HR Administration, Payroll, Employee Engagement, Reward and Recognition, driving high levels of customer service and continually improving systems and processes.

The Head of HR Operations will work closely with the wider business to provide data and insights to establish key priorities and strategic decision making.

This role will have a really important contribution to the digital transformation and Oracle systemupgrade in 2025.

This role offers agile working and can be based in either Castleford or Newcastle with travel between the two sites as required.

What we are looking for;

Highly experienced HR leader with a strong background in HR operations and employee experience
Proven experience of integrating new teams and driving high performance and customer service
Experience gained within a unionised industrial environment
Passion and expertise in systems and process improvements and implementing a new HRIS
This role will have a clear link into the business and must have excellent stakeholder management skills and a highly commercial mindset

Northern Powergrid owns and operates the network that distributes electricity to homes and businesses across the North East, Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire.

Employing over 2,500 people, the business has 8 million customers and supplies 3.9 million propertiesvia 60,000 miles of overhead powerlines and underground cables.

As part of Berkshire Hathaway Energy (BHE), the energy division of a US owned multinational conglomerate, Northern Powergrid is now embarking on a Digital Transformation which will modernise their systems and processes and enable them to satisfy the needs ofcustomers and stakeholders whilst streamlining the employee experience.

Creating a modern workplace which enables employees through the use of systems will be a key outcome of the programme.

As a result, they are looking to recruit a number of roles that willbe integral to delivering this programme of work over the coming years, including a Head of HR Operations.
