Description
Job description

Ealing is a highly diverse and vibrant borough in the west of London.

Home to around 370,000 people, it is the third largest borough by population in London and is an exciting, diverse and challenging place to live and work.

This role will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of two programmes of work hosted by the public health team.

Firstly, the council wide community champions programme, an existing cross-council programme in health creation through community empowerment and asset-based approaches, and secondly the work of the Health and Wellbeing board, including to develop and implement its Health and Wellbeing Strategy.

Your skills in project management, community engagement and collaborative working will be highly regarded.

This role offers a great learning opportunity to learn about wider public health work and tackling inequalities in local authority settings and across a local borough-based partnership.

The public health team has a strong learning ethos and provides a very supportive environment.

There has never been a better time to join the team at Ealing.

  • The Council Plan has a strong focus on tackling inequalities, supporting healthy lives and engaging with our communities, including ambitious new approaches to community development and empowerment.
  • Our new Health & Wellbeing Strategy is focused on tackling inequalities through the 'building blocks of health and wellbeing', but with a strong emphasis on the partnership working of the Health and Wellbeing Board.
  • There are strong relationships across our Council, especially following extensive joint work throughout the COVID19 pandemic.
  • There are exciting opportunities within our Borough-Based Partnership, with very positive relationships and emerging structures for joint working.

By joining Ealing, you will be part of a respected, innovative and diverse London borough with a strong reputation for its commitment to health and wellbeing.

Public Health sits at the forefront of our early intervention and prevention work and our work is cross-cutting, working with other council departments and local strategic partners to affect system change.

The post is a permanent post in the team.

Currently, the majority of staff are hybrid working, with 2 days a week attendance required in Perceval House and 3 days virtually from home (this may change depending on the needs of the department).
