Work location - Staffordshire/Work from Home - Hybrid
Areas Covered - Litchfield & Burton-Upon-Trent
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide emotional, practical, and social support to young people, with a focus on their unique needs and goals.
- Assist young people in developing essential life skills, including budgeting, cooking, cleaning, time management, and personal hygiene.
- Collaborate with the young people to set and work towards individualized goals related to education, employment, and personal development.
- Serve as a positive role model and mentor, offering guidance and encouragement to help the young individuals make responsible choices and develop selfconfidence.
- Respond to crises or emergencies as they arise for example accompanying the young person to A&E visits, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of young people, and following established protocols.
- Advocate on behalf of young people to access necessary services, resources, and opportunities in the community, such as healthcare, education, legal and social services.
- Assist young people in registering with a local General Practitioner (GP) and dentist, ensuring they have access to essential healthcare services.
- Conduct regular oneonone key work sessions with young people to assess progress, address challenges, and update support plans.
- Assist young people with movingin paperwork, including signing the license agreement and handing over the welcome pack to ensure a smooth transition into the accommodation.
- Take young people to attend appointments, such as medical, legal, educational, or employmentrelated, and accompany them when necessary.
- Accompany young people on shopping trips to help them learn budgeting skills, make healthy choices, and ensure they have essential supplies.
- Support young people in identifying and pursuing their career aspirations, connecting them with training, job search resources, and mentorship opportunities.
- Maintain accurate and confidential young person records, including progress notes, incident reports, and case files.
- Plan and facilitate group activities and outings that promote socialization, recreation, and community integration.
Qualifications:
- QCF Level 3 in Childcare/young people care or working towards it.
- Previous experience working with young people in a supportive capacity.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle crisis situations effectively.
- Understanding of the challenges faced by young people transitioning into independent living.
- A commitment to promoting the welfare and development of young people.
