Job Summary:


The Support Worker will be responsible for providing support, guidance, and supervision to young people in our semi-independent living accommodation.

Must be a driver.


Salary:
£11.44 per hour


Key Responsibilities:


  • Conduct regular checks on the young people to ensure their safety and wellbeing.
  • Provide immediate support during emergencies, such as accompanying the young person to A&E visits.
  • Ensure young person receive appropriate medical attention and followup support as needed.
  • Handle any crisis situations calmly and professionally, following company policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with appropriate authorities or agencies if necessary.
  • Support where appropriate, education, training, vocation, and leisure activities
  • Provide emotional and practical support to the young people as needed.
  • Support young people in developing life skills, including budgeting, cooking, and maintaining a cleanliving space.
  • Maintain accurate and uptodate records of activities and any incidents that occur during your shift.
  • Liaise with GP, dentists, and other medical professionals to ensure young persons' healthcare needs are met.
  • Assist young people in booking and attending medical and dental appointments.
  • Maintain and update health records, ensuring they are accurate and confidential.
  • Complete and update daily reports including but not limited to key work sessions, risk assessments, support plans, social worker weekly reports, outcome matrix, incident reports and communicate any relevant information to the nighttime support team.
  • Collaborate with other staff members and supervisors to ensure a seamless transition between night and day shifts.
  • Communicate effectively with young people, addressing their concerns and needs with empathy and understanding.
  • Attend and participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
  • Follow the Philomena protocol and company policies when reporting a missing person.
  • Maintain detailed records of missing persons incidents, including information on when and how the report was made and any subsequent actions taken.

Qualifications:


  • QCF Level 3 in Childcare/young people care or working towards it.
  • Previous experience working with young people in a supportive capacity.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle crisis situations effectively.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by young people transitioning into independent living.
  • A commitment to promoting the welfare and development of young people.
