Your New Role:


We have a fantastic opportunity for a
permanent Highways Supervisor to join our
NMC SW account in either
Stranraer or Ayr.

This is an
onsite role.


NMC SW is working in partnership with Transport Scotland Southwest since August 2020, we are responsible for inspections, cyclical maintenance, asset management, scheme delivery as well as winter maintenance and incident response.


The team are first on the scene to assist road users on the road network, deliver engineering design and operational delivery services for more than 600 kilometres of road and 1,650 structures enabling reliable journey times and a high level of customer care for the people and businesses that use these roads every day.


By ensuring our roads and highways are well-maintained through all-weather seasons and traffic incidents, we aim to create well-functioning, safe spaces which minimise disruption, keep people moving and support thriving communities.


The
Highways Supervisor plays an important part in assisting the Site Manager and Operational Team in planning and supervision of schemes throughout the SW network to deliver the works safely, to the required quality, on programme and within budget.


The standard hours of work are 40 hours per week Monday - Friday, with overnight & weekend working as required by the business.

You will be responsible for:


  • Ensuring health, safety and environmental issues are considered and planned for, in all site operations and activities
  • Providing any technical support to the supply chain partner(s) as necessary
  • Monitoring for nonconformances in the Quality Plans / Inspection and Test Plans
  • Carrying out site visits to supply chain partner(s) delivering schemes to help solve any issues, and ensuring that the work is being done safely, to the required standards and in accordance with the work programme and carrying out HSEA site inspections in accordance with contract instructions
  • Briefing the supply chain partner(s) via regular toolbox talks and safety briefings, ensuring PPE is adhered to correctly and carrying out site safety and environmental inspections in accordance with the contract requirements
  • Accurately recording all work carried out so that accurate claims can be submitted to the Client and 'as built' details can be provided if required
  • Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with CDM is applicable by encouraging a positive safety attitude and setting the safety and environmental standards for all site operations and activities
  • Promoting a positive approach about our immediate community, supply chain and workforce
