MMP Consultancy are working with an Southampton based Housing Local Authority to recruit a Housing Assistant to work on a temporary basis.


This is an exciting opportunity to provide an efficient, comprehensive and caring tenancy and estate management service to all tenants and leaseholders.


Responsibilities:


  • Assist customers in the bidding process for Homebid, making bids on their behalf as required
  • Book signs ups in a timely fashion to ensure that void turn round times are kept to a minimum.
  • Prepare sign up paperwork, carrying out necessary checks, for the Housing Management Officer.
  • Maintain effective lines of communication with the relevant Income Services Officer for the patch to ensure that efficient visits are made to tenants in relation to tenancy and estates issues, and income services issues at the same time.
  • Book, send out appointment letters, and complete input for Settling In Visits.
  • Complete the whole process in relation to mutual exchanges, including sign ups.
  • Responsible for the management of parking spaces/garages.
  • Complete referrals to the Mediation Assessment Service.
  • Prepare case files for ASB cases ensuring that all files are in chronological order, and that the relevant information from customer services is included
  • Manage the mutual exchange process, including the signing up of tenants for the properties that they have exchanged to this entails knowledge of mutual exchange policy and procedures, ability to interact on a face to face basis with tenants.
  • Book removals and the void team for evictions.
  • Book appointments for the Housing Management Officers to carry out periodic tenancy checks.
  • Liaise with staff in other agencies, Directorates as necessary, including statutory, voluntary, charitable, and commercial agencies.
  • Carry out quality checking of tenancy files to ensure compliance with the agreed retention schedule.
  • Work from time to time in other patches/estates to provide cover as directed.
  • Taking card payments from members of the public over the phone for rent, Council Tax & other services. Raising Agresso orders & paying creditors.
  • Able to cover Reception if the need arises which would include taking rent payments over the counter
Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent customer service and administration skills
  • Knowledge of Social Housing
  • Excellent IT skills and educated to A-Levels
