    Hywel Dda University Health Board has an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Clinical Lead Physiotherapist across the orthopaedic & surgical pathway.

    The post is based inPrince Philip Hospital, Llanelli, Carmarthenshire.


    The post holder will need to be highly specialised in orthopaedics, general surgery and rehabilitation, with an ability to train and develop their team.


    Whilst the main focus of the role will be based inPrince Philip Hospital, there is an expectation to work flexibly alongside services in Glangwili Hospital, Carmarthen as required.


    They will need strong leadership, organisational and team management skills, with a passion for their clients and the desire for service improvement and transformation following national guidelines.

    They will be aware of the evidence base for evaluation through audit, clinical effectiveness and research activity. They will be an active member of the clinical leadership groups within Hywel Dda University Health Board.


    As a versatile postgraduate, you will need to have a strong clinical grounding in elective orthopaedics, general surgery, rehabilitation, frailty syndrome, neurological conditions, cardio respiratory conditions, MSK problems and a good understanding of community rehabilitation services / setting.


    You will have extensive experience and expertise in the principles, standards and delivery of inpatient rehabilitation with demonstrable knowledge of managing a complex elective caseloads.


    The successful applicant will provide clinical leadership, specialist expertise, supervision and education to Physiotherapy staff, Therapy Assistant Practitioners, Rehabilitation Assistants, Support Workers, and students.


    We are looking for an individual with the interpersonal skills to network with acute and community colleagues to co-ordinate a responsive, seamless service across pathways and sectors.

    You will have organisational ability and a commitment to service development by developing the evidence base for evaluation through audit, clinical effectiveness and research activity.

    As appropriate, there will be an expectation to deputise for senior management.

    48 general practices (four of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres

    Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services


    Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.

    The post holder will oversee the physiotherapy activity within acute elective wards & surgical day unit, promoting the delivery of rehabilitation and patient flow.

    The post holder will be required to participate in the provision of a flexible 7 day service, based on service need.

    This will be on a rota basis.

    Significant accredited post graduate specialist physiotherapy courses within relevant clinical area
    Advanced training to Masters level training.

    Post graduate qualification up to post grad diploma level in relevant area
    Clinical Education Training course
    Non-medical prescribing qualification

    Significant post-graduate experience including relevant experience in specialist field
    Significant experience in multi agency team working within specialist area
    Therapeutic handling and risk assessments
    Leadership of clinical networks/ clinical practice groups
    Performance Management

    Experience in undertaking risk assessments
    Experience of health promotion and preventative developments within service
    Language Skills
