The Communications Officer for the Private Bank in Europe, the Middle East & North Africa (EMEA), is an integral part of J.P.

Morgan's global corporate communications team. Reporting dually to the Chief Communications Officer for J.P.

Morgan Asset & Wealth Management, who is based in New York, and the Private Banking EMEA Leadership Team, you will have day-to-day responsibility for managing and developing internal employee communications and external media relations for the J.P.

Morgan Private Bank across the EMEA region. The post will be based in London, with limited travel in the region.


Responsibilities:

Internal Employee Communications

  • Develop, write, and distribute targeted employee communications for the EMEA Private Bank CEO, Head of Investments and five Region Heads (U.K., Ireland & Channel Islands; Spain, Italy & Germany; Middle East, North Africa & Turkey; Eastern Europe, Switzerland & Israel; Nordics, and France & Benelux).
  • Edit and distribute targeted employee communications for EMEA Private Bank support functions, including Finance & Business Management, Human Resources, Lending, Diversity & Inclusion Council, Employee Appreciation Week committee, and other groups as needed.
  • As the point of contact for EMEAwide employee outreach, ensure all employee communications carry the firm wide tone, manner, and editorial excellence.
  • Work closely with International Asset & Wealth Management Internal Communications lead and International Private Bank Chief of Staff on EMEA employee outreach timing and content.
External Media Relations and Public Relations

  • As a trusted member of the J.P. Morgan EMEA Private Bank, develop, manage and implement a strategic media relations programme that supports the reputation as the number one global private bank for ultrahighnetworth and highnet worth individuals, families, and Endowments & Foundations across the firm's key onshore markets in

EMEA:

U.K., Ireland & Channel Islands, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Nordics, Benelux, Switzerland, and it's market-leading offshore business servicing clients in the Middle East, North Africa & Turkey and Eastern Europe.


  • Plan and execute media strategies and opportunities that position the firm's client advisors, market strategists, and investment and wealth advisers as experts in their field and the region.
  • Manage existing PR agency relationships. Maintain and expand the firm's relationships with targeted media throughout the region including key broadsheets/magazines/online portals, broadcast television and radio, luxury, private banking and intermediary publications.
  • Work with Social Media team to amplify EMEA Private Bank news and content across LinkedIn and other social channels.
  • Develop and oversee existing PR agency relationships.
  • Work closely with J.P. Morgan Corporate & Investment Bank communications colleagues on joint press activities.
  • Manage reputational issues for the Private Bank in EMEA, advising senior management and developing briefing documents and statements on issues of the day.
  • Oversee award nominations for annual global private banking award programmes.
  • Work closely with Marketing and Private Bank Editorial Board to explore and manage PR opportunities that relate to client acquisition efforts, events and publications.
  • Review employee external speaking engagements.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Extensive experience in financial communications, public relations, financial journalism or related fields.
  • Ideally experience working inhouse or at a PR agency.
  • Strong relationships with business media and potentially relevant publications to the Private Bank in EMEA.
  • Experience developing, implementing and leading media strategies tailored to specific businesses.
  • Knowledge of and experience in financial markets, financial services, private banking or asset management.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Ability to influence, with good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience generating and pitching story ideas and securing favourable coverage in target media.
  • Experience developing media plans, key messages, press releases, Q&As and other relevant materials.
  • Ability to media train key spokespeople.
  • Strong relationship management skills and ability to partner with senior bankers and members of the firm.
  • European language skills a plus.
