    About the role

    Balfour Beatty have an exciting new opportunity for a Project Commercial Accountant to join the team working on our Anglian Water Contract based in Peterborough

    The Commercial/Project Accountant will be responsible for the monthly management, forecasting and reporting of costs and the commercial management of a project or programme of projects from inception through to close out. They will also provide commercial and financial support to both the delivery management and on-site delivery teams and produce monthly analysis of project performance.

    What you'll be doing

    • Accurate live forecasting/re-forecasting taking into account the programme and reporting in accordance with the respective work breakdown structure / cost breakdown structure.
    • Actual costs are monitored and assessed against baseline, value of work done, solution cost progress, affordability challenges and final outturn calculations, reporting either weekly or otherwise as agreed with the PCM whilst observing Alliance governance.
    • Perform month end project analysis, forecasting accuracy, performance metrics and analysis into Risk and Opportunity schedule ensuring that the information provided is accurate and reflective of the performance of the project(s).
    • Ensure all efficiencies are reflected in the reporting tools provided, to the Clients timeline.
    • Provide reports on actual costs vs. estimate & identifying underlying reasons for any variance & resolutions, in particular highlight, challenge & resolve variance to latest plans.
    • Records of deliveries (GRNs) are undertaken in a timely manner in accordance with both Anglian Water and Partner requirements as necessary.
    • Any inadmissible costs are not included within the project/programme of projects costs.
    • Working with the estimating function to ensure that initial project estimates are robust and accurately reflect latest cost information from current and recent projects.
    • Working in collaboration with the Delivery Team to identify implement and monitor efficiency plans throughout the lifecycle of a project or programme of projects
    • Work with the integrated delivery team to assist with project and programme risk mitigation plans are considered, put in place and administered.
    • Highlighting key information to the relevant stakeholders, to ensure informed and proactive decisions are made.
    • Ensure that subcontracts are properly managed in accordance with contract requirements including review of contractor payment applications, approval of payments and monitoring of remaining purchase order values.
    • Ensure that subcontract final accounts are submitted on a timely basis and that they agree to contractual terms and work completed.

    Who we're looking for

    • Professional finance qualification (ie CIMA/ACCA/ACA), part qualified or qualified by experience would also be considered.
