About the Role:


Kingswood Medical Centre has a fantastic opportunity for a medical administrator to join their team on a full or part-time basis, for hours per week.


This is an essential front-line role at the practice, providing an efficient, comprehensive secretarial & administrative support service to the practice management team.

The post-holder will ensure all administrative duties are performed effectively & to the required standard, meeting the objectives of the practice.


The main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Work within the admin team who are responsible for the day to day administration of the practice.
  • Provide general assistance to the practice team & project a positive & friendly image to patients.
  • Manage data quality issues & IT issues by providing advice & guidance to all practice staff in the use of the clinical system.
  • Receive & make telephone calls as required, divert calls & take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail & prompt appropriate delivery. Enter patient information onto the computer as required
  • Provide general assistance to the practice team & project a positive & friendly image to patients.
  • Assist with administration Rota, by coordinating the provision of temporary administrative & reception staff, ensuring sufficient cover is provided for periods of leave & other staff absences.
  • Assist in the administration of the clinical system, arranging the clinical Rota & updating the appointment system to reflect leave & other approved absences.

  • GCSE English (C or above) and at least three others
  • Experience of working with the general public
  • Experience of administrative duties
  • Experience of working in a healthcare setting
  • Experience of leading/managing a team
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Strong IT skills (generic)
  • Clear, polite telephone manner
  • Competent in the use of Office and Outlook
  • Effective time management (planning and organising)
  • Ability to work as a team member and autonomously

The following qualifications, skills and experience are desirable:

  • Educated to A-level/equivalent or higher, with relevant experience
  • AMSPAR qualification
  • NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care
  • Leadership and/or management qualification
  • Experience of providing appraisal writing and staff development
  • EMIS/SystmOne/Vision user skills
