Band - RMN (Temporary Position):

North Bristol NHS Trust is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to join our team on a temporary basis.

This position is open to individuals who possess a Band 5 qualification and have a passion for providing high-quality care to patients in need.


As a Band - RMN, you will have the opportunity to work at our esteemed Southmead Hospital located in Bristol, BS10 5NB.

This modern and well-equipped facility is known for its commitment to excellence in mental health care, and we are excited to welcome a new addition to our team.

In this temporary role, you will be responsible for providing holistic care and support to individuals suffering from mental health conditions.

You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, and implement care plans that meet the unique needs of each patient.


Key responsibilities and duties:

  • Conducting comprehensive mental health assessments to determine patient needs and identify appropriate interventions.
  • Developing, implementing, and evaluating individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, their families, and the healthcare team.
  • Administering medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring adherence to established protocols and guidelines.
  • Providing emotional support and counseling to patients and their families, addressing their concerns and offering guidance.
  • Monitoring patients' progress, documenting observations, and reporting any significant changes to the healthcare team.
  • Participating in multidisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and other collaborative forums to review and update care plans.
  • Assisting in the implementation of therapeutic activities and interventions to promote patients' mental wellbeing and recovery.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant policies, procedures, and legal requirements, including safeguarding practices and regulations.
  • Acting as an advocate for patients, promoting their rights and empowering them to make informed decisions about their care.

Skills and qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse qualification with current registration and valid NMC pin.
  • Proven experience in a mental health setting, preferably within an acute care or hospital environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish therapeutic relationships.
  • Strong assessment, planning, and organizational skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and collaborate with colleagues from various disciplines.
  • Solid understanding of mental health conditions, their impact on individuals and families, and evidencebased interventions.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to stay current with advancements in mental health care.
  • Flexibility to work the specified shift timings, including nights and weekends.
