We have an exciting opportunity for a
'Health, Safety and Environmental Officer' to join our growing team.

The role requires someone who can work towards deadlines and has the ability to take an organised and practical approach to their work.


The role of a Health, Safety and Environmental officer is to monitor work carried out on a construction site and Compco premises to ensure Health and Safety is upheld and the standard of works follow initial plans and compliance.

You would be required to carry out regular inspections, checking quality of work, identifying any defects, and then reporting their findings to site managers, PMs, clients, SHEQ department and chasing closure of any open actions.


You will also be required to provide supervision/advice for workers on sites, carry out accident/near miss investigations, deliver inductions, carry out toolbox talks and will liaise with a wide range of professionals and trades.

Daily Activities

  • Carrying out regular inspections on construction sites
  • Working with a diverse range of groups
  • Monitoring installation process from start to finish
  • Testing/reporting on quality of work
  • Ensuring measurements and material usages follow initial plans
  • Reporting to Construction/Project Managers
  • Checking for any defects/H&S breaches
  • Providing reports of inspections and reviewing
  • Making sure installations codes and safety issues are adhered to
  • Marking up drawings detailing site changes
  • Assisting and liaising with SHE Manager

Expected Conditions

  • Suitable Transport will be provided either in the form of a Company Van or Car.
  • Ability to use cloudbased software to record inspections
  • Working hours are Monday to Friday, 39 hrs per week.
  • Most of the time would be spent onsite, in a variety of locations. Therefore, you must be prepared to stay overnight on occasions.
  • There will be times when you work at heights, walking up flights of stairs covering large distances working in tight spaces, Safety equipment and PPE will need to be worn onsite and would be provided.

Qualifications & Experience Required
Work experience and/or NVQ in construction would be advantageous. A driving license is essential.

NVQs would boost your career credentials, furthering your knowledge and understanding of the construction industry.

There are courses available in site inspection, concerned with areas such as health and safety and managing the performance of teams.

We offer a CPD (Continuing Professional Development) programme, which will improve skills and knowledge.


It is also required you hold a CSCS (Construction Skills Certificate Scheme) card, which you can obtain by sitting a Health and Safety test and acquiring an NVQ or equivalent qualification.

We can assist in obtaining a CSCS card if required.

Up to £30,000.00 per year
