As an expanding company AEV Ltd offering an opportunity to join a small and dynamic team situated in Merseyside, to support the laboratory in testing of raw materials, preparation of equipment and supporting on ensuring samples are made available in a timelymanner.

This isn't your typical white lab coat role. You will be working in a laboratory, but not as you know it. This won't be a sterile environment and requires someone who's not afraid to get stuck in.

  • Starting salary of £14,000
  • Workings hours are 40 hours per week (Mon to Fri with flexible working hours between 08:00 and 17:00)

What will I be doing as an apprentice? As a laboratory technician apprentice for AEV Ltd your goal will be to analyse, interpret and evaluate data to identify results requiring further investigation. With support from your mentor, you will be trained in how to work safely in a quality-controlledlaboratory, whilst maintaining excellent housekeeping and in accordance with Health and Safety, environment, and risk management systems.

Other duties you will be responsible for with training, include:

  • Manufacture of lab scale batches and progression to (full-scale) series manufacture
  • Testing of physical and chemical properties of liquid and solid samples
  • Design and implementation of test programs for raw material selection
  • Design and implementation of test programs for new product development
  • Analysis of results and writing of detailed experiment reports
  • Testing of customer samples and communication of results to customers
  • Compiling and maintaining technical documentation
  • Support QA with complaint investigations
  • Support QC for commercial production
  • Champion safe and clean working conditions and practises including principles of 5S


The Advanced Level Apprenticeship (Level 3 Laboratory Technician) provides individuals with a sound knowledge base that can support them in undertaking further learning and development of their careers.


What could the future look like?

There's no limit to what you can achieve if you work for AEV Ltd, with potential for the successful applicant to be offered a full-time position working with the business at the end of the apprenticeship.


Through 'on-the-job' training you'll have the opportunity to learn new skills to provide competency and responsibility in carrying out testing and to help develop a career in laboratory testing.

Not only that but the apprentice will have the opportunityto become a registered Science technician (RSci Tech).

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
Experience
Whilst previous experience is great, we at Tiro are always open to wildcards.

Qualifications
It's about enthusiasm, not school results. In our experience the most successful apprentices are those who are driven to find out more about the sector, can be up front about what they do and don't already know, are considerate, self-reflective, and impatientto learn the job role

Eligibility
You will need to be 18+ at the time of your apprenticeship start date due to insurance purposes.


About You
You will have excellent communication and organisational skills.


You will have the ability to work independently and use initiative, as well as being an active team member when required to do so.

We're looking for someone who is patient, highly motivated and driven to learn and excel in their role.

You will have a flexible approach to work and show the ability to switch priorities at short notice.

So how does the apprenticeship work? At Tiro we're obsessed with changing lives through science and technology apprenticeships so we can't wait to have you on board.
Over 21 months, you'll devote a minimum of 6 hours of your working week on 'off the job' training.

This can include theory training (for example, virtual lessons & online learning), alongside practical training (for example shadowing, mentoring, & time spentwriting assignments.

Together this will count towards a Level 3 Laboratory Technician apprenticeship.

You'll be trained by an expert tutor from Tiro as well as an experienced mentor at AEV Ltd who together, will make sure you develop the knowledge, skills,and work habits you'll need to succeed in your career.

Being an apprentice is hands-on, so you'll get the chance to learn things you might otherwise not have experienced in a university or college environment.

The best part? You'll be earning a salary while you gain your qualifications, meaning no huge student loans to pay back at the end of the programme
