There is an exciting opportunity to join Bellway, one of the UK's largest house builders.

Our London Partnerships Division, located in Dartford, Kent is looking to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the Division's Commercial department.


The Role


This role of Assistant Quantity Surveyor is responsible for working with project surveyors and help with the managing of the commercial aspects of each development.


The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will report to the Head of Commercial.

Principal accountabilities of the role include:

  • Produce tender packs, chasing returns and compiling analysis of returns.
  • Produce subcontract payments and final accounts, ensuring that the subcontractor has signed these off.
  • Produce subcontract orders, ensuring they are authorised by the authorised representative, together with all necessary documentation to comply with Group Commercial Policy.
  • Complete onsite measurements and assess payments to contractors.
  • Attend and contribute to various meetings, such as preorder meetings, project review meetings with construction team as well as external contractors.
  • Price customer extras and liaise with sales department as necessary.
  • Assist the Commercial Manager with takeoff's for land appraisals when required

Experience, Qualifications and Skills

Experience

  • Experience of working as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor with a residential house builder.

Qualifications and Training

  • HNC/HND in relevant Building Studies
  • GCSE Grade C/4+ or equivalent in English and Maths
  • COINS

Skills and Aptitude

  • Strong communication and listening skills, with good negotiation skills
  • Highly motivated to deliver quality developments
  • Ability to work on own as well as part of a team
  • Excellent attention to detail and demonstrates ability to meet deadlines
  • IT literate and the ability to adapt to new systems
  • Good administration skills
  • Committed to diversity and inclusion
  • Punctual and organised

The Role and Working Conditions

  • Willing to be flexible in respect to day to day duties and hours worked.
  • Office based role, with travel within the Divisional area.
  • Ability to travel to development sites as and when required.
