An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Qualified Nurse with relevant experience to join our multi-disciplinary team in Our new, purpose built, Same Day Emergency Care Unit (SDEC)


You must be able to motivate, support and actively encourage staff to achieve high standards, and possess excellent communication skills to ensure that the aims of the SDEC are fully met to benefit our patients.

You will need to ensure that as well as providing excellent patient care you will also be working to tight deadlines to ensure the Patients are assessed, diagnosed and start treatment on the same day improving patient experience and reducing hospital admissions as well as avoiding unplanned and longer than necessary stays in hospitals, resulting in lower risk of infections and de-conditioning for patients


A large part of the role involves patient flow, therefore close collaboration with the bed management team, Emergency Department and AMU (Acute Medical Unit) will be required as is a good working knowledge of the patient flow system.


You will work closely with the Multidisciplinary team in leading on the day to day operational management of care within the Unit and take the lead in ensuring that the Nursing team are suitably supported and trained to deliver high quality, patient centred care.

You will lead and provide support to the nurses and care team to provide the highest quality care.


You will be a highly visible role model, mentor and leader, supporting a culture that promotes safety, learning, development, inquiry and professionalism.

You will celebrate achievements and share learning to the benefit of the Unit and the wider hospital.


You will need to demonstrate resilience and willingness to embrace and drive forward change, have the ability to work autonomously as well as working collaboratively with other teams in the hospital.


The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust consists of a 600 bedded large District General Hospital, which provides its services on the Countess of Chester Health Park, and a 64 bedded Intermediate Care Service at Ellesmere Port Hospital.


The Trust provides services in all of the surgical and medical specialties common to a District General Hospital with some specialist services.

The Trust serves the whole of the local population currently in excess of 250,000 residents which geographically covers populations in England and North Wales.
