The Neurology department are embarking on a mission to ensure patients are aware of their appointment and ensure that all of our clinic capacity is fully utilised.

You may be the person we need to make this happen.


Applications are welcomed for the post of a Waste reduction clerk - ( job title negotiable) to join our dynamic and friendly Neurology Department within the Medicine Division.

You will provide an administrative service to the service, with a responsibility to ensure clinics are fully utilised and patients are aware of appointments prior to their appointment date.


We also know that to contact our patients we must be open to working flexibly outside of a normal 9am-5pm role.

Following training, your working hours may be flexible between 8am and 8pm so that you can contact patients outside of their working hours.

If you are able to work flexibly
- this will be an excellent role for you.


Your work will cover a wide range of duties including dealing with patient queries, retrieving information, using electronic patient record system and you must therefore be able to demonstrate a flexible approach to all working relationships.

Your customer service and communication skills and experience will come in great use, as will your organisational skills with attention to detail.


Knowledge and experience of office procedures are of course essential - we don't want to just throw you in at the deep end so we do want people who know what it's like to work in an office team environment.

However, as all offices and systems are different, you will receive full training when you start so there will be plenty of opportunity to grow and develop new skills as well as show us what you can do with yours.

The ability to use your initiative and work as a member of a busy team is essential.

Neurology Department is very busy and fast paced, providing patient care across Lancashire & South Cumbria. We are looking for enthusiastic, hardworking and adaptable individuals who have an interest in improving patient experience

Please read the job description listed below:
Ringing patients prior to appointments to make them aware of appointment date, time and location. Re arranging appointments where necessary and ensuring all clinics are fully utilised. Checking with patients over the phone


Checking patients correct address, phone number, GP contact details and next of kin details prior to appointment to ensure this is correct and up to date.

Update on quadramed where necessary.

To prioritise own workload appropriately, referring any service concerns to the Team Leader in a timely manner.

Maintain good relationships with members of staff, ensuring a high degree of confidentiality and integrity at all times.
