Description
About Foothold Cymru

Established as a not-for-profit social enterprise in 1991. Foothold Cymru became a registered social justice charity in March 2020. Our vision is of a Wales, free from poverty with social, economic and environmental justice for all.

We support people addressing the causes and consequences of poverty and inequality, through designing our services with, not for, individuals and communities, most affected by these issues.

Our work is spread across three pillars as illustrated below:

The Project

Pedal Power-Llanelli is a bicycle library, lending refurbished bikes salvaged from landfill. It also runs Fix-It Fairs, maintenance classes, and events championing waste as a valuable resource.

The project aims to reduce carbon emissions, foster repair and reuse, improve wellbeing, and make cycling affordable for those on a low-income.

The project is funded by Landfill Disposal Tax Communities Scheme (Welsh Government) and managed by WCVA.
